In the rural area where Kos was born, there are no schools, no hospitals, and no future. The destitute sharecroppers are born, live and die with no hope of change in that place. When agents for a local rock quarry came to his village, they promised work, a monthly salary and good food. The work was real, but the job was a lie. When Kos left his village, he was made a slave. Young men, boys and girls all worked to move sharp rocks with their bare hands and feet in the scorching heat of southern India.

To his surprise, late one night some boys who had escaped came back to the quarry with a local magistrate who helped Kos and other children to escape with rope ladders. The children walked barefoot for several miles where they then were loaded into trucks. After a few days of recuperation in a local church, Kos came to live at the Sylom Children's Home. For the first time in his life, he ate until he was full. He also heard for the first time that God loved him. Today, Kos enjoys having friends, going to math class and he dreams of becoming a mechanic.

When you sponsor Kos, you take care of his needs for food and education. You'll get updates from time to time about how you've made a difference and learn about the significant things happening in his life.

When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.

Dozens of other children are waiting to be connected with a sponsor. See their stories.
