Han was just 8 years old when his impoverished parents sent him to a rock quarry to work for the family. The promises that the quarry owner made to his family were all lies, and Han wasn't allowed to leave. He'd been made into a slave. The workers slept on the ground where snakes and scorpions would crawl on them at night. Han saw a girl his age jump to her death after being raped by a supervisor. This memory in particular hurts him to this day.
After an estimated 2 years in the quarry, Han was rescued by our field team in the Spring of 2020. He now lives at The Sylom Children's Home. He is an average student, and he really enjoys to play outdoors. He is currently 11 years old, and he is in 4th grade. He enjoys reading books, and someday he hopes to work with his hands as a carpenter or construction worker.
