Elsi's family was plagued by debt, and when a loan shark offered to clear her father's debts by taking his daughter, Elsi's father accepted. The loan shark sold Elsi into a quarry where she worked with other children and adults to remove rubble and stone that prevented machines from getting to valuable materials. She spent long days loading trucks with bags of rocks. She spent long nights sleeping on the bare rock.

When a local magistrate learned that the quarry had children working there, he demanded that the quarry owner release the children that were kept there. Local government searched for their families, and all the children whose family couldn't be located were placed in homes. Elsi came to live at The Sylom Children's Home where she began to recover from the trauma of the quarry, and she also began to learn about the love of Jesus and go to school.

Now, Elsi dreams of working in medicine and is always reading books that are available to her.

When you sponsor Elsi, you take care of her needs for food and education. You'll get updates from time to time about how you've made a difference and learn about the significant things happening in her life.

When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.
