Divya's parents worked hard to provide for their 4 children, but Divya often went hungry because her parents didn't have consistent work. One day, a man promised her all the food she could eat and spending money, if she came to work in the rock quarry. Divya decided to go with the man, and he gave her parents about $25 as an advance of her salary. However, the man tricked Divya and her parents, and they never saw their daughter again.
The man sold Divya to a rock quarry where she worked upwards of 15 hours a day in the baking sun. She was barely given anything to eat, and as she got a little older the supervisors regularly raped her and all the other women and girls captive in the rock quarry.
Our field team rescued Divya and 9 other children from this quarry in 2019. Divya came to live at The Sylom Children's Home. She started receiving nutritious food, fresh clothes, and saw doctors who provided medicine. Divya regularly receives counseling from house mothers and local pastors. Someday, Divya wants to become a journalist who exposes the truth about slavery and the hard life that slaves live in India.
When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.
Dozens of other children are waiting to be connected with a sponsor. See their stories.
