Chai's father gambled and drank his paychecks away, and when he couldn't pay his debts, a loan shark kidnapped Chai and sold him to a human trafficker. The human trafficker sold Chai in turn to a rock quarry. The supervisors forced Chai to crush stones with a hammer and load granite chips into trucks. He worked from sunrise to sundown, and he was beaten, if he slowed down. Chai thought that he would die in the rock quarry, but in the Fall of 2019, he was rescued.
One of our field teams took him to a safe house where he started to recuperate. He got good food and counseling, and then they brought him to live and study at The Sylom Children's Home. Today, he attends classes for the 1st grade, and he is learning to read and write. Someday, Chai hopes to be a pastor.
When you sponsor Chai, you take care of his needs for food and education. You'll get updates from time to time about how you've made a difference and learn about the significant things happening in his life.
When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.
Dozens of other children are waiting to be connected with a sponsor. See their stories.
