Andrew's mother died when he was about 10 years old. When his father got remarried, his step-mother worked to get Andrew out of the house. After a while, his father gave in to his new wife, and he arranged to sell Andrew to a rock quarry for about 7000 rupees, or $95 USD. Andrew was forced to work as a slave in a rock quarry.
Life in the quarry was filled with endless work, and Andrew worked beyond exhaustion to avoid beatings. He crushed rocks and loaded them into trucks.
In 2018, Andrew was rescued after 5 years in a quarry. He has learned to read and write in school, and he loves to fix things. Andrew hopes to become a mechanic and work repairing engines. His training costs $1600 (donate the full amount here) or $133 a month for 12 months.
When you sponsor a scholarship, 100% of your donation goes to provide the Andrew with life-changing training. You'll get updates from time to time on the progress that he is making.
