A flash flood killed her family's small herd of sheep, and to restart their business, they sold Jessy to a human trafficker. The human trafficker, in turn, sold her to a rock quarry. For 12 hours a day, Jessy was forced to perform backbreaking work in the sun with no rest and almost no food. She was beaten and abused by her supervisors and constantly thought of ways to kill herself. In the Spring of 2020, Jessy was rescued when a local government leader learned there was forced child labor in his district, and Jessy and the other children came to live at The CFC Children's Home.
Today, Jessy is a happy little girl with friends and classmates from school. She is 8 years old and is in the 3rd Grade. Jessy dreams of becoming a doctor and loves to sing on her way to class. Her favorite subject is her native language of Telugu.
