Honda's parents were both constantly sick from working tirelessly with little nutritious food. Their family's only source of water came from a well that had been contaminated by sewage since it was dug. Honda's father died, and when the debt collector came, he took Honda because there was no money. Honda was sold to a human trafficker who delivered him to a rock quarry. In the quarry, Honda struggled to survive with even less food than there had been at home.
When a couple of older boys escaped the quarry in 2017, they returned with a local team of abolitionists who freed all the children working in the quarry. Some of the children went straight home, but when the team didn't find Honda's mother, he was brought to The Sylom Children's Home. For the first time, he heard about God's love and also started attending school. Today, Honda loves math and is learning more about becoming an engineer.
