Meg's parents earned a steady living, but neglected their children, choosing to buy new things instead of providing even the basics for their children. Eventually, her parents lavish lifestyle caught up to them, and they couldn't repay their many debts. Her father ran off, and Meg and her brother were both kidnapped by loan sharks.
They were sold to a rock quarry. Meg quickly learned the rules of the rock quarry and the many punishments that came to those who broke the rules. Her feet were cut and bleeding after one day in the quarry. A female worker helped her by making coverings with rags.
After months of life in the quarry, Meg was rescued by one of our field teams. Today, she lives at The Sylom Children's Home, and she reads anything she can get her hands on. When she graduates, Meg wants to become a nurse. She loves to sing during the worship times and everywhere else. She is so thankful that God has rescued her.
When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.
Dozens of other children are waiting to be connected with a sponsor. See their stories.
