When Andu was first rescued from slavery in a rock quarry, he couldn't remember a time when he wasn't afraid.

He'd been scared of his abusive father, fearful of the mean men his father sold him to, and terrified of the boys who bullied him and stole his food in the rock quarry. Even when he was finally free, Andu was afraid that more awful things would happen to him.

Our team at The Children's Home worked hard to comfort Andu, make him feel safe, and help him make friends, and after a few months, we began to see him heal and step into his freedom. He started smiling more, stood up taller, and even started playing with newfound friends.

Now, Andu has joined the other rescued children in school and enjoys it so much that he wants to be a teacher when he grows up! He says he loves all of his classes, but science is his favorite because it makes him feel smart. He's spent a lot of time working through his fears and trauma with his counselor and has made great progress. Someday, Andu hopes to go back to his village and reconcile with his father.

When you sponsor Andu, you take care of his needs for food, education and medical care. You'll get updates from time to time about how you've made a difference and learn about the significant things happening in his life.

When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.

Dozens of other children are waiting to be connected with a sponsor. See their stories.
