Akhil's mother fled her abusive husband, and she was promised refuge in a rock quarry. However, when she arrived at the place, she realized that she wouldn't be allowed to leave. She and Akhil were both slaves. Akhil was forced to carry water for the other slaves at just six years old. Akhil and his mother were both rescued in the Spring of 2020, and they both came to live at The Sylom Children's Home. She works as a caretaker for the children helping to cook and clean, and Akhil is attending school.

Today, Akhil is in school with kids his age, and he is learning to read and do math. He wants to become a math teacher.

When you sponsor Akhil, you take care of his needs for food and education. You'll get updates from time to time about how you've made a difference and learn about the significant things happening in his life.

When you do what you can For One, you help end child slavery for good.

Dozens of other children are waiting to be connected with a sponsor. See their stories.
